The Sword

I'm writing a book called "The Sword". I'm going to post the first chapter, tell me what you think! :D (Criticism, Comments, Anything! :D)

 

The quest for the sword

Chapter 1

It Begins

It was a bright and sunny day when a Pegasus flew by. I was riding the Pegasus, I’m Allie and I’m 10 years old. My Pegasus’s name is Anastasia. We fly together every day to get berries and apples from the nearby forest. We live alone in a tree house that my mother built for me to never escape out of; so that the “monsters” in the forest couldn’t hurt us. But that was in my last diary, I escaped pretty quick. My mother abandon me in the tree house the age of 4 and never came back.

One day me and Anastasia went to pick some berries. I put the bag to carry the berries over Anastasia’s back. We started picking the berries. (Eating them at the same time) Everything was normal until we saw a fire about a mile away. I jumped on Anastasia’s back and put the berries in the bag. We got there and saw goblins.

We flew back home and I put the berries in a bowl. I said to myself. “Maybe it was just a dream?”  It wasn’t. I put on my armor that my father had given me before he passed away. I put Anastasia’s armor on too (Purple armor with spikes). We ate our lunch then went back out on the way out I got my enchanted walking stick.

We got there in about 2 minutes. I tied Anastasia’s rope that was connected to her saddle to a tree. I gripped my enchanted walking stick in hand and walked forward. I overheard them talking about some kind of magical sword. I walked forward I got in the bushes and got up behind one and reached over its mouth and pulled it back.

I attacked it with my hand still over its mouth I hit it in the head, it suddenly turned to sand. I almost yelled but then I just held my breath. I took each one out until the last two I just decided to get both at once by bonking their heads together.  I hoped out of the bushes and got the last, but then the last one was the leader. He saw me and pushed me down to the ground, I quickly got up and pushed my sword in its head.

Now all that was left was sand.  I was a little makeup box, I picked it up and opened it. It turns out it wasn’t makeup. There was a fuzzy image of some kind of evil space ship base. I put it in my pocket. I was about to leave when I saw a map covered in the sand. I picked it up, it looked like squiggles and an X, at the end of the X there was the words: The sword in green ink.

    I was amazed they could even spell. I rolled it back up and put it in my pocket with the makeup box, whatever it was. I walked over to Anastasia, I put the makeup box and map in her bag. We flew home passing the fire that had gone out while I was fighting them. When we were home I gave Anastasia an apple and I had a few berries. I looked at the map. It didn’t have anything to tell what way it was saying to go. I had planned for this. I brought Anastasia over and put her horn on the map.

Her horn is like a black light, to help see anything hidden, lucky enough there was a hidden compass. I had to know what the “sword” was, if it was just a sword or something else, I wouldn’t know until I got there. I packed some apples and berries for the way, I still had my armor on and Anastasia’s on her. We headed for the quest for the “sword”.

We passed the apple trees, getting some more on the way. Then the river and where the fire was. I looked at the map, it said we had to go East, Anastasia used her speed powers to get us started off fast. We were barley there. We saw a house that might be good to camp out at for the night. Anastasia took us down.

I knocked on the door, I heard footsteps and pulled out my enchanted walking stick ready to kill some more goblins. It was a little girl with her mother, “Hello, how can we help you?” Said the mother “I’m looking to stay somewhere for the night, could we stay here?” I said.

“Sure!” Said the mother “We are always looking to help.” Said the mother with a smile. “Thanks!” I said with a tired out face. We walked inside and saw a dog and a cat sleeping on the couch. “My name is Allie” I said “Nice to meet you Allie, I’m Stephanie and my little girl is Elizabeth.”  “Hi Elizabeth!” I said softly “H…Hi” She said shyly.

“You can sleep in the guest room upstairs last door to the left.” Said Stephanie. “Ok, Thanks” I said. We walked up stairs trying to not get sand on the carpet. We got up stairs and went in the room, it had flowery wall paper with a pink dresser full of pocket lint. I decided to just put our food and clothes next to the bed.

It was late so we just went to bed. It was a small bed but just big enough for me and Anastasia. In the morning we said goodbye but before we left Elizabeth gave us a rock. Just a rock but it was glowing a little bit, she didn’t say anything.
